C for Creative ways of decorating your house with plants

Plants can add a lot of freshness and beauty to the house. Decorating your house with plants not only adds a pop of color to your décor but also helps in keeping the indoor air fresh and germ-free. Beyond their aesthetic value, having plants in your house helps in reducing the toxins present in the air and also improves air quality. In fact, there are many plants that have varied aromatherapy benefits.

Various scientific studies have proven that plants are beneficial for those who are ill, helping in lowering stress levels among long-term patients. In the end, one thing is clear that bringing green plants into your home literally adds life into space. So, tighten your belt, whether your thumb is green, blue or any other shade from the rainbow, here’s are a few creative and great tips for ways to enhance your space with green living.

Tips on decorating your house with plants

  • Floor Plants- I am a huge fan of floor plants as these are generally huge and need bigger pots. Due to the sheer size them they command the floor space beautifully. At times there are spaces in the house that are incomplete or empty, it’s not necessary to fill these spaces with additional furniture. But all you need to do is get a beautiful floor plant to complete the space and bring the necessary pop of color. Some of the examples of such floor plants are fiddle pig, areca palm, bamboo palm, monstera, and many more.decorating your house with plants

  • Succulents- Succulents are one of the strongest varieties of plants and do not require much care. These are great options for the ones who do not have a green thumb at all 😊. You could go for a cactus or a succulent for your home They are green and lively desert plants and are very well-suited to environments that would be less than hospitable to other plant types. These plants need very little water and sunlight and very low maintenance. Keep an eye on a detailed post I will be making on succulent in this series with the alphabet S.decorating your house with plants
  • Wall Hangings- Walls are like an open sky and whatever way you wish to decorate you can. And hanging planters are a great way to do the same. Off late I have gotten in love with macrame hanging planters and love to hang my favorite vines and creepers falling off the pots. You could either place a glass bottle filled with water and a money plant in it or you could put a proper potted plant as well.decorating your house with plants
  • Artificial plants- Well, not everybody has a green thumb and the ability to make the plants survive. Worry not you could easily opt for real-looking artificial plants. From the vines of a money plant leaf, huge green monsteras, areca palm, succulents, to flower blooms all are available in the market. And honestly, they need only occasional cleaning with a wet cloth to remove the dust and dirt. So, these are also great alternatives for the ones who do not have time for maintaining plants but still love to have greenery around.
  • Cut blooms- Artistically placing fresh flower blooms in a glass vase are also a wonderful idea as it brings in fresh fragrance and a bright pop of color to space. These flower blooms can never ever go wrong. You can place them on a corner table, dining table, center/coffee table, a huge metal flat vase, or anywhere you find space to put some fresh flowers. Just place them and enjoy the beauty.
  • Orchids– Blooming plants equally add to the beauty of the space as much as other ornamental plants in the house. In fact, there are many blooming plants that have health and aromatherapy benefits like Orchids. Orchids give you an extra pop of color that can really set your room off. Orchids are beautiful long-standing with bright and, engaging colors. No matter where you place them in a room setting, they make a statement that draws the eye and brightens the room, and with good care, they can last a long time.
  • Terrariums- People love terrariums because they integrate the living component of the plants with the decorating aspects of the container, layering of materials, and decorative rocks! Some terrariums are blended with fairy gardens to appeal to the younger crowds. They are also great and classic plant set up that looks amazing on your book rack, coffee table, or anywhere on the corner table too. Do read more about Terrariums
  • Hanging shelfies- Well, hanging shelfies are in trend these days. All you need is a nail in the wall and a beautiful shelfie hanging from it. You can place small planters keeping the overall weight and size of the nail in mind. They look amazing along with a book or two to go along with them.

  • Kokedama- This one new for me too and I am surely going to explore this soon for my own house. But I have been seeing the beauty it adds to the house. Kokedama is a ball of soil, covered with moss on which usually an ornamental plant grows. Though these are on the expensive side if you buy from the nurseries but you can definitely invest in a piece or two of these and add to the beauty of your living spaces. Or rather you can make these at home too.
