Here’s why I love to play Solitaire for my brain health

Solitaire is simply the most famous card game in the world. People play the game for hours and hours without actually even realizing it. Solitaire is quite easy to play and it is the type of game in which you can achieve quick rewards, which makes the game pretty attractive at the same time. Solitaire has always been a favourite game for older people, but younger people, like me, love to play the game a lot too. With fun, solitaire has a lot of benefits and it helps in building various skills too. So, let’s talk about the 5 major benefits of playing solitaire in brief.

Solitaire

Playing Solitaire helps in calming the mind

While playing solitaire, your brain goes into light meditation mode. Meditation is simply the best practice for an individual who wants to calm his/her mind. During meditation people focus on an object or thoughts to calm their mind and similarly while playing Solitaire, you do some of it unknowingly and thereby calm the mind.

I have been playing Solitaire for a very long time now and simply love how it helps in boosting the brain strength. While looking for various solitaire games came across this wonderful platform for solitaire games. And one of my favourite games is classic minesweeper and gin rummy. All the games on the site are well explained and simplified for the players to understand and play. Rules and scoring along with playing tricks make it all the more fun.

Solitaire

Playing Solitaire helps in improving memory

Remembering the cards in their proper sequences and placing them correctly, activities like these make solitaire a great game for memory improvement. Actions like these stimulate the brain cells and also improve the functioning of memory cells. And in many types of research, it has been shown that playing solitaire can increase short-term as well as long-term memory in a person.

To play the game, you need to develop a strategy

Playing Solitaire helps in developing strategy muscles. Long story short, playing solitaire can help you in increasing a good number of your brain cells. Playing the game can also help you in developing and enhancing your motor skills. Different versions of solitaire such as Spider Solitaire, Mahjong Solitaire, Freecell, Pyramid, and others can help by various methods too. In fact, solitaire is not as complex as some other games, but to win and play at increased difficulty, you need a proper strategy.

Solitaire

Makes understanding the concept of Delayed Gratification easier

The act of resisting an impulse to take an immediately available reward in the hope of obtaining a more-valued reward in the future is known as the concept of Delayed Gratification. The concept is all about self-control. While playing the game, you just can not go on shuffling the stack anywhere in the game you want, otherwise, you will just end up losing.

Solitaire can also help with concentration.

In Solitaire, you need concentration, because at several junctures, if you lose concentration, you will end up forgetting the pattern or card. And because of that you can lose a game, and I don’t think you want to lose, right? And over time, your concentration power simply increases. And that will help you in your day-to-day life too.

And a bonus point is that playing solitaire is simply fun. It is the main purpose of playing the game that it is fun to play. You forget your problem for a while and you just get a sense of isolation that is really important at various junctures.

Solitaire is one of the few games that I allow my kids to play on the laptop. It’s a great way to improve concentration, learn patience and also develop analytical skills. Well written, as always!
