Everything You Need To Know About The Most Crucial “SUNSHINE” Vitamin D

With summers just around the corner and the scorching sun roaring with full force, I am sure the ones who lack Vitamin D is going to get the much-needed exposure and benefits. This might look like an ideal scenario but trust me this isn’t. Despite the abundant sun, Vitamin D (sunshine vitamin) deficiency is reaching epidemic proportions in our country.

Vitamin D

Recent reports state that 65-70 percent Indians suffer from Vitamin D deficiency and another 15 percent have insufficient Vitamin D in their body. Alarming isn’t it? Well, Vitamin a D is not a very simple vitamin. It’s a hormone that impacts every cell of the human body. It is usually synthesized in the skin on exposure to sunshine and is needed to absorb calcium and for bone health. It is one of the vitamins which is needed by the entire body. For healthy bones, heart, brain, to building strong immune system and much more. If this deficiency of Vitamin D is not managed properly it can lead to various life-threatening diseases as well, like, rickets, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and infections such as tuberculosis.

Vitamin D

Want to know more? Here’s everything you need to know about this powerful “sunshine” vitamin and ways it can help you lead a great life.

1)A Peaceful Night’s Sleep- Daylight is known to be crucial to help your body function in a regular rhythm. Natural daylight helps the human body stay active at the daytime phase and sleep at night time. Overall daylight helps in keeping the body in sync with day and night phase hence be sure to go outside every day in the sun. The human body is a wonderful mechanism created by God and it understands its surroundings quite well, in turn, helping in having a peaceful night time.

2)Alleviates the Mood- Daily sunlight exposure can naturally increase the levels of a chemical named serotonin that helps in keeping the body alert and active which in turn enhances the overall mood for the day and keeps depression away.

3)Keeps the Blood Pressure in Check- Exposure to sunlight helps in releasing a compound called nitric oxide that helps in lowering the blood pressure in the body. I am sure high BP patients can definitely benefit from regular sunlight exposure. Isn’t it!

4)Protection Against Melanoma- Safe exposure to sunlight can actually protect you from Melanoma. The ones who stay outdoors more benefit more and are safe in comparison to the ones who spend their day behind the closed doors. Vitamin D deficiency has the potential to increase the risk of Melanoma.

5)Sufficient Vitamin D Supply– Well, this is one of the commonly known fact that exposure to sunlight can help in producing the optimum amount of vitamin D in human Body. A healthy supply of vitamin D boosts bone growth and protect against illnesses such as breast and colon cancer, inflammation, multiple sclerosis, seasonal disorders, and depression.

Such are the benefits of regular sunlight exposure. However, considering the fact that our lives are restricted to the four walls of high rise buildings and closed offices, there is hardly any chance for us to get optimum sun exposure. In India, inadequate exposure to sunlight results from the indoor lifestyle in urban areas and wearing head coverings.

Given the importance of this sunshine Vitamin D, Zenith Nutrition is well known dietary supplements brand has launched Vitamin D3, vegetarian capsules to ensure that you get a daily dose of Vitamin D and stay protected against the life-threatening diseases. Sharing with you more about these dietary tablets that can prove a blessing for all. Besides, our darker skin contains more melanin pigment, which reduces the skin’s ability to make vitamin D. In addition, air pollution contributes by reducing the amount of solar UV-B rays that reach the earth’s surface, apart from deterring people from being outdoors.

About Zenith Nutrition Vitamin D3 Dietary Supplement

Oh how I miss the sunshine! We are reportedly going to have rain where I live from now until Saturday! Winter around here is pretty dreary as it is. The benefit of sunshine and vitamin are amazing. It really does affect a person’s mood and how well they sleep. I may have to check out a Vitamin D supplement for these nasty winter months!

Thank you for reminding me to get my vitamin D levels checked. Like you said, your body won’t absorb calcium if you aren’t getting enough vitamin D. Also a great argument that children need to get outside everyday, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

Living in Canada, where I don’t get out much in the winter, I know how important VitD is! I usually take at least 1000IU a day. Another tip – Vit D works more efficiently in your body when you take it with Vit K2!
