What is Type 2 Diabetes and How I Manage it as a Multitasker?

Being a busy mom juggling work, family, and personal commitments, I never imagined managing my health would become one of my most important roles. However, life took me by surprise when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year ago. With some bit of experience with gestational diabetes during both my pregnancies I had a fair idea of how I can deal with this without having to panic about it.

Balancing the demands of daily life with managing this condition hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned over a while that with the right approach, I can stay healthy, enjoy myself with my family, and thrive in my career too. Here’s how I manage type 2 diabetes while being a multitasker.

Understanding Type 2 Diabetes

When I was first diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, it all felt quite overwhelming as I had seen my uncle struggle with high sugar levels for a long time. The thought of managing blood sugar levels while keeping up with everything in my life was daunting. But with the right medical consultation, trial and error, and some helpful lifestyle changes, I’ve found my ways to live with diabetes effectively while continuing to lead a busy and fulfilling life.

One of the most important factors contributing to my sugar level management is the daily consumption of Ensure® Diabetes Care prescribed by my doctor along with the regular dose of medications and daily exercising.

Introducing Ensure® Diabetes Care

What goes inside the body also has a major impact on the blood sugar levels. Hence one of the most important steps I took to manage my blood sugar levels was to incorporate Ensure® Diabetes Care in my daily routine. Upon consultation with the doctor, he suggested adding Ensure Diabetes Care as a part of my diet plan. It is the world’s No.1 diabetes-specific nutritional drink. And clinically proven to help manage blood sugar levels in 4 weeks1. With its unique blend of high-quality ingredients, it’s been an essential addition to my daily life, helping me to manage my type 2 diabetes while keeping up with my busy lifestyle.

As explained by my doctors, Ensure® Diabetes Care holistically helps the body since it is enriched with high fibre that helps to slow down the absorption of sugar in the bloodstream and improves food digestion2. The presence of slow-release carbohydrates along with high quality protein helps to regulate blood sugar while supporting muscle health. Last but not the least, the presence of 36 vital nutrients including vitamins and minerals helps manage common diabetes symptoms like hunger pangs, fatigue, and weight as well.

This Triple Care System of high fibre, high-quality proteins and 36 nutrients helps me stay energised and manage my condition effectively. Available in 2 flavours, I have been using this twice a day as per the doctor’s prescription and consume it with my breakfast and during evening snacks without any worries.

Aside from this, here are several things that I follow during the day in a disciplined manner to ensure that my blood sugar levels are managed well.

Routine

While donning various hats, the most important thing for me has been following a routine. To manage Diabetes as a condition it’s important to follow a structure. Regular mealtimes, meal planning and prepping, and regular exercise have played a huge role in managing type 2 diabetes.Ensure Diabetes

Family support

Since this condition needs a lot of dietary changes and lifestyle management, it is imperative to involve the family in the game plan. It’s about creating a healthier environment for everyone at home.Ensure Diabetes

Managing Stress

Chronic or long standing stress3 is one of the other factors contributing to lifestyle conditions like type 2 diabetes. Increased stress levels can add to increased blood sugar levels so it’s important to manage it effectively. Practising mindfulness and relaxation and delegating responsibilities has helped me manage the stress and lead a better life.

Monitoring blood sugar

Once detected with type 2 diabetes it’s important to keep track of blood sugar levels at regular intervals as suggested by your doctor. Keeping track of glucose levels helps while consulting the doctor and making dietary adjustments too.

Prioritizing My Health Without Neglecting Responsibilities

The most important thing that I realised upon my diagnosis was that my health had to be my number 1 priority. As mums, and playing various other roles, we often tend to put our children and families first, sacrificing our well-being. But with type 2 diabetes I knew neglecting my health would mean serious consequences down the road. Hence, I have been making conscious efforts to take care of myself, both physically and mentally while balancing the demands of family and work.
