Bang! Even before we realised it, 2016 has bid a farewell to us and we are almost in the 2nd month of the new year. By now I am sure we all have forgotten what’s’ left behind and we have new year resolutions planned/executed and many more fresh and positive things in this year. How many of us make New Year resolution at the beginning of every year, but fail to live up to them?? I am sure quite a lot of us do this and forget by the time we are not even in middle of the year. But trusts me its best to start fresh with a positive outlook and changes.
Most of us dream to own a big home, aim to get married, buy a new car or vow to lifestyle changes every year. How many of us have taken the New Year resolution to stay healthy?? In order to achieve your big dreams, it is important to be happy and healthy. Healthy living does not refer to a day, week, month or year. It is a practice that needs to be consistently followed and integrated into your daily life. Following are some lifestyle changes that will make you healthy in this year and beyond.
1} Eat a healthy balanced diet
The key to staying healthy is following a healthy and balanced diet. It is important to eat right to progress towards a healthy life. Say goodbye to all those sugary and junk food that makes you look ugly at the end of every year. In the coming new year, aim to eat healthily and include food like veggies, fruits, protein rich foods, whole grains, fish, olive oil, seeds and nuts that have numerous health benefits. Detox your body with a balanced diet.
For all those who think exercise is only linked to weight loss, you can re-think again. Exercise is also done to stay fit and healthy. Make exercise like a hobby so that you enjoy doing it every day. Take out at least 30 minutes out of your daily schedule to exercise and remain fit. Do it along with a friend to keep yourself motivated.
3} Sleep well
Adequate sleep is as important as healthy food, and exercise. Getting enough sleep keeps you free of stress, anxiety, depression, heart diseases, obesity, and mood disorders. Make sure you hit the bed by 11 P.M to get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep before leaving to work the next morning.
4} Give up on drinking and smoking
Smoking and drinking exists in our social lives and forms a routine every time you hang out with family and friends. A lot of heart-related disorder, liver malfunction and lung diseases are attributed to smoking and drinking. This New Year 2017 take the resolution to quit smoking and drinking.
5} Become spiritual
Many people associate spirituality with religion. There is a lot of difference between being spiritual and being religious. Spiritualism is known to induce positive thoughts, comfort and strength to deal with difficult situations. It is also known to cure long lasting illnesses. Pray and meditate for a set time daily and see the difference.
6} Forget and Forgive
There is no use holding on the past and people associated with it. Forgetting and forgiving is the best policy to attain inner peace within you. Forgetting and forgiving help relieve stress, depression, blood pressure and even major illnesses. Remember you are not doing it for them—you are doing it for yourself!
