Resuming Travels? Here’s the list of top 11 items to pack in your carry-on bag

The world has been reeling over with the pandemic for around 2 years now and slowly we see the light at the end of the road. Many countries are lifting the travel bans and inter-country travels also seem easily possible now. I am sure you are all equipped to tackle the situation around you with all the necessary precautions. To give you one less reason to worry we have made this list of the top 11 items to pack in your carry-on bag.

Top 11 Items to pack in your carry-on bag

  1. Hygiene/sanitization products- The world is all about masks and sanitisers today. While flying ensure that you are wearing a double mask or N95 mask (Carry some spare masks as well). Aside from the mask, you can also carry it along with your face shield. Don’t forget to keep a sanitiser and disinfectant along with you as well. Disinfectants may not be allowed in cabin luggage so you can carry them in your main luggage and can be submitted in the security check.
  2. Disinfecting wipes- Disinfecting wipes are great when it comes to cleaning the surfaces and hands in case you also have small kids along. They come in handy when you have to wipe the chairs in the airport lounge area, luggage trolley, common touchpoints that cannot be avoided (luggage tray during security checks), and even aeroplane seats. You can also keep few baby wipes in case the baby is too small to use these disinfecting wipes.
  3. A toiletry bag- Carry a small toiletry bag with all the basic things you cannot do without. It’s a good idea to keep lotion, hand sanitiser, toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balms, and a small tube of face cream. It’s good to have these things handy if in case you wish to freshen up at the airport in case of flight delays.
  4. Laptop- It’s always better to carry your laptop in a carry-on bag instead of putting it in checked-in luggage. It’s much safer to have your electronic items along with you. It also helps if in case you need some in-flight entertainment or want to finish up your pending tasks.
  5. Change of clothes- You never know when you might need it and what situations you might face. So, it’s always good to have a light pair of clothes that you can tuck in your carry-on bag
  6. Medicine- Well, not just given the scenario but otherwise, also I strongly recommend carrying the emergency medicine along. When travelling with kids keep medicine that they might need, and other medicine like painkillers, antacids, cold and cough, allergy, loose motions, vomiting and anything else that you consume regularly for BP/sugar issues. Also, keep some cotton with you to block the ear if in case travelling with kids as the pressure in the plane can cause pain.
  7. Wallet- Keep your ID, cards, cash, and plane ticket in one place in your bag so that you don’t lose anything important.
  8. Battery pack and charger- Don’t forget to keep your charger along with fully charged battery packs for emergencies. I always keep a battery pack as at times with kids along we tend to lose phone batteries faster. This is one of the key items to pack in your carry-on bag.
  9. Headphones or earphones- These are a must if in case you love entertainment while travelling. Quite handy and useful for listening to music, watching movies, and even taking calls hands-free.
  10. Warm clothes- Airports, long-duration flights, or even the lounge waiting for the area can get chilly so better that you carry something warm along to stay comfortable. Carrying a woollen scarf is a great idea to wrap around the neck and look stylish too
  11. Light snacks- You never know when you might feel hungry. Especially when you are travelling with kids it’s a good idea to carry some light snacks. Biscuits, cookies, wafers, chips or anything that you like to binge on.

So, these are some of the basic items to pack in your carry-on bag. Caution and safety are the two key things to keep in mind while travelling. Even though the restrictions around the world are lifting gradually but avoid travelling if possible. Don’t forget to take all necessary precautions and safety measures if in case you have to travel. Get yourself and family members vaccinated, follow all covid norms, social distancing to keep yourself and others safe and sound.

List make our life so much easier and organized ! I found this list quite useful and handy. Sanitizers and masks are the most important. I avoid carrying food and toiletries nowadays in my cabin luggage nowadays as I just refuse to take down my mask unless necessary.

Totally agree with you Rakhi. Even while visiting the pediatrician for vaccines, I carry most of these items in my bag as traveling even for a small distance has become scary these days.

I have still not resumed travelling and won’t suggest it either as a travel blogger cause we might end up having a third wave of COVID. However, whenever I resume travelling I will surely be packing these items especially sanitisers as well all got to know its utility by now.

Apart from the additional sanitisers, I usually pack all of these things with me while travelling. Wipes are a saviour and especially with kids water and light snacks are a must.
